We Will Overcome

We Will Overcome

– by Enkindle Ministries –

“While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my Spirit.’  Then he fell on his knees and cried out, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’  When he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:59-60

Greetings,

In recognizing the anniversary of 9/11 this last month, like most Americans I found myself recalling details of that horrific day, forever etched in the core of deep-seated emotions.  Most of us can remember our exact location and surrounding circumstances at the moment our brains began absorbing the details of the tragic attack on America.  Many of us huddled together in the comfort of family as an indescribable eeriness lingered in the air.  A sharp fear wove itself in the fabric of our lives as we processed an intensely shattered security, stolen from each of us as Americans.  We not only wondered, “How could this happen?” we all questioned, “When and where will this happen again?”  A freedom we had taken for granted was ripped out from underneath our confident legs, and all we could do was helplessly observe.  The false reality of “control” liquidated to sorrow and uncertainty, in less than an hour.  Little did we realize, the stage had been set for our country to overcome.  Though God did not cause 9/11, He wants to redeem the sorrow and anguish.  Many beautiful stories have emerged over the years of ways He has done this.

I am more convinced than ever that God is using the current evil, perceivably destroying our country, to draw us back to Him.  A stage is being set (again, not purposely) for the American Church to rise up and illumine a beacon of light in the midst of blinding darkness.

I’m also confident Jesus is emphatically cheering us on. If the heavens could somehow be scrolled back, as they were for Stephen, I have a feeling Jesus, along with the great cloud of witnesses, applauds for His Bride’s purpose.  Recalling His own sufferings in the Garden, Jesus implores us to persevere.  Of course, He could put a quick stop to it all, but He longs for all men to turn to Him.  In a land plagued with adversities, many are entering a position to welcome “Good News,” as Matthew calls the gospel.  What an incredible opportunity the Church has (and I’m not referring to a building) to rise up.

In my own life, I’ve heard this personal call drowned out by many things of this world.  Distractions scream at us every moment of the day and continue crying out when our tired head falls on the pillow each night.  What if we each could experience personal revival in such fresh ways our passion spread throughout our church and communities revitalizing all who came near?  I used to think revival was a mystical force that rolled in like a cloud, consuming entire congregations.  I now realize revival is a purposeful inward experience which the Lord uses to spread to others.  It’s only when I lay down my own dreams, wants, and desires at His feet that I can truly experience His.

As we press on toward this goal, I want to make you aware of the latest at Enkindle Ministries. This last month has been filled with many blessings, and we are so excited to share them with you.  Enkindle received huge answers to prayer with a donation to cover expenses for the 501C3 (government’s nonprofit status) and also a couple of computers for staff use.  We have prayed for these for some time and feel humbled by His provision.  In addition, we have had the privilege of walking alongside so many at the Live Prayer Wall.  Brothers and sisters from all over the country have posted prayer requests.  We feel grateful for the opportunity to pray for those who may be facing their darkest hours.  In God’s sovereignty, we have already seen many requests turn to praises.  Indeed, He is good, whatever His answer may be.

Enkindle Ministries longs to facilitate renewal both on a personal and corporate level.  This last month we had the opportunity to attend the annual Women of Worth Conference in Witchita Falls, Texas.  God’s presence was certainly made known, and we personally watched Him set many women free from great bondages.  Further, we’ve been excited to do pulpit supply at Columbia Evangelical Church on Sunday mornings this past month.  Indeed, God has a plan and purpose for this precious congregation.

Next month, three revivals are scheduled for Neosho, Missouri; Hot Springs, Arkansas; and West Virginia.  Please cry out with us for God’s plan and purpose to move forward in each of these Bodies.  Please pray the Gospel is declared courageously and boldly, and many are set free.  In addition, we will be attending the annual Prayer Conference at Crossroads Tabernacle in Fort Worth, Texas. We anticipate God’s movement as He guides His children.

Wherever you find yourself today let me remind you of how fearfully and wonderfully you’ve been knitted together.  He looks at you as part of His creation and stands in awe.  In fact, He marvels over you. Thank you for your obedience.  You’re an invaluable piece to Him and to us, sweet overcomer.  Press on and advance His Kingdom.

God bless,
The Enkindle Team
