The Prescription
– by Loree Marinos –
Patient: Doctor, Doctor, you’ve got to help me!!!
Doctor: What seems to be the problem?
Patient: I have motion sickness
Doctor: How long has this been going on?
Patient: For years!
Doctor: Tell me more about it
Patient: I go up and then I drop down, then I go up, up, up and then I plummet down again. And this keeps happening
Doctor: You are describing to me what sounds like a roller coaster ride.
Patient: Yes, that is it exactly. I try to stay on the top where I want to be but I can’t keep myself there. I keep falling back down again.
Doctor: Well it is time to stop this roller coaster.
Patient: I would like to but I can’t find a way to stay on top….
Doctor: What is it that gets you up on top again each time?
Patient: Attending a Cross Style Conference.
Doctor: Tell me more.
Patient: Attending a Cross Style Conference gets me on top of the roller coaster for a few weeks but it doesn’t have the ability to keep me up there. A few weeks after attending, I plummet to the bottom again. Sometimes I can listen to a Cross Style message on DVD or CD but once again it only temporarily keeps me on top with a Spiritual high. Then I drop to the bottom and stay there until the next conference 6 months later.
Doctor: Wow, that is a long time until you’re spiritually up on top again.
Patient: Yes, I would like to continual to stay at the top where I am engaged in the life of Jesus and growing in Him.
Doctor: Sorry I can’t help you. You need a specialist. I suggest you talk to your Cross Style Conference speakers for help.
Patient: Good idea, thanks for the advice.
Doctor: Let me know what you find out.
And away goes our patient out the hospital door into the church door where Cross Style Training Camp is in session. Let’s listen in….

Doctor: What?
Patient: Knowing Jesus through my own personal involvement in His Word. I need to be feasting on the Word of God for myself not just depending on the speakers or my pastor for spiritual food. And now I am growing in the knowledge of the Lord. I am depending on Jesus and His Word. There is a continual joy, an excitement, a continual riding above life’s circumstances. It keeps me close to Jesus.

Forever
Patient: Still feasting on the Word of God – He is still growing Him – keeping me on top

Colossians 3:16
