Studies on the Sermon on the Mount :: Oswald Chambers

– a book review by Jessica Marinos –

Every line in this book, each one flowing into another, builds the picture of a beautiful life blooming into Christ’s character. I can’t argue with a book that says Jesus is to be our all and let all go to follow Him completely. “Be carefully careless of all things except your relationship to Christ,” the author says and continues to say, “Jesus Christ says, get rightly related to Me first, see that you maintain that as the great care of your life and never put the concentration of your care on the other things.”

Truly read with a seeking heart, this book will challenge you to not let your life remain the same. It is a beckoning call to envelop yourself in the Words of Jesus and to do them with the source that He Himself will provide in you by His Spirit.

The book is a small 108 pages during which Chambers gives short and effective commentary verse by verse so it is not overwhelming but nonetheless charged with Biblical impact. I am usually a bit leery about expecting a good book written on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, but this book, throughout, stands true to Jesus and His Word.

My journey through this book has been exciting and deepening. It’s a must read!
