Rees Howells Intercessor :: Norman Grubb

Rees Howells Intercessor :: Norman Grubb

– a book review by Jessica Marinos –

Reading this book has the ability to draw you to your knees in longing for God. It follows the life of a Welsh minor who kept not even one ounce of himself for his own but laid all of himself unconditionally before God. What God did through Rees Howells and the intimacy that they shared is monumental and this book really needs to be read to clearly see that closeness. One cannot help but want what Rees Howells had with God, but this book also declares the high price which must be paid to gain it – complete death to the self life and obedience to God. “God made it very plain that He would never share my life. I saw the honor He gave me in offering to indwell me, but there were many things very dear to me, and I knew He wouldn’t keep one of them. The change He would make was very clear. It meant every bit of my fallen nature was to go to the cross, and He would bring in His own life and His own nature.”

I love reading books about people whose lives reflect the Word of God and this book has both inspired and convicted me. Rees Howells Intercessor can’t be read without leaving the reader untouched.
